Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing our website, or using any PetBook services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must immediately cease use of the Service.

2. User Accounts & Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must provide accurate information, including when registering a pet's microchip ID or your professional veterinary credentials. Misrepresentation of pet ownership or professional status is a violation of these terms and may result in immediate account termination.

3. GPS & Location-Based Services

Certain features of the Service rely on GPS technology (e.g., Fi Collar integration). Please note that PetBook is an independent service and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Fi (TryFi).

• Accuracy: GPS location data is subject to environmental interference, signal strength, and hardware limitations. We do not guarantee 100% accuracy or real-time availability.
• Not a Life-Saving Device: Our tracking services are intended for convenience and supplementary pet safety. They are NOT a substitute for proper supervision, fencing, or professional search-and-rescue services.
• Hardware: We are not responsible for hardware malfunctions of third-party devices (e.g., Fi Collars) or their impact on battery life.

4. Professional Veterinary Terms

Users registering as veterinary professionals represent and warrant that they hold a valid, active license in their jurisdiction. PetBook reserves the right to verify credentials and suspend access if licenses are found to be expired or invalid.

5. Payments & Subscriptions

• Billing: Paid subscriptions (e.g., Pet Lover) are processed through Stripe and billed on a recurring basis.
• Cancellations: You may cancel at any time via your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
• Refunds: Unless required by law, all payments are non-refundable. We do not provide credits or refunds for partial billing periods.

6. Physical Products & Fulfillment

Physical products, including custom QR tags, are manufactured and shipped by our fulfillment partners.

• Customization: Users are responsible for ensuring that custom text and images uploaded for tags do not violate third-party intellectual property rights.
• Defective Items: If a product arrives damaged or defective, please contact support within 14 days of delivery.

7. Content & Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you upload. However, you grant PetBook a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, host, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service (e.g., displaying your pet's public profile).

9. Community Features (Playdates & Social Networking)

PetBook provides community features that allow users to connect with other pet owners for social purposes, including playdates, friendship networking, and community events (collectively, "Community Features").

Platform, Not a Party. PetBook acts solely as a technology platform facilitating connections between independent pet owners. PetBook is not a party to any arrangement, agreement, or transaction between users arranged through the Community Features, including playdates or pet-sitting exchanges.

User Responsibility. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users. PetBook does not conduct background checks, verify the accuracy of information provided by users, or supervise any in-person meetings. You agree to exercise caution and use your best judgment when arranging in-person meetings with other users.

No Liability. PetBook expressly disclaims any and all liability arising from or related to your use of the Community Features, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or disputes between users.

10. Independent Service Providers & Marketplace

PetBook provides a marketplace platform ("Marketplace") where independent service providers ("Providers") may list and offer pet-related services (including pet sitting, dog walking, training, grooming, and veterinary services) to users seeking such services ("Clients").

Independent Contractor Relationship. Providers are independent contractors and are not employees, agents, joint venturers, or partners of PetBook. PetBook does not supervise, direct, or control a Provider's services, work schedule, methods, or conduct. Providers are solely responsible for all taxes, insurance, licenses, permits, and compliance with applicable laws.

No Endorsement or Warranty. PetBook does not endorse, recommend, or guarantee the quality, reliability, or suitability of any Provider or their services. PetBook makes no representations or warranties regarding the credentials, background, or qualifications of any Provider. Clients are encouraged to perform their own due diligence before engaging a Provider.

Platform Role. PetBook's role is limited to providing the technology platform for listing, discovery, and payment processing. PetBook is not a party to any service agreement between Providers and Clients. Any service agreement is solely between the Provider and the Client.

Payment Processing. Payments for services are processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. PetBook collects a platform fee as disclosed at the time of booking. Refunds and disputes are subject to the terms agreed upon between the Provider and Client. PetBook may, in its sole discretion, assist in facilitating dispute resolution but is not obligated to do so.

No Liability for Services. PetBook shall not be liable for any damages, losses, injuries, or claims arising from or related to: (a) the performance or non-performance of any services by a Provider; (b) any interactions, communications, or meetings between Providers and Clients; (c) any damage to property, personal injury, or death arising from services arranged through the Marketplace; or (d) any disputes, refunds, or chargebacks between Providers and Clients.
